So as it is almost September 2019 now another year has flown by of festivals. Each year there are more and more festivals popping up which is great to see. From what were once small festivals like Life and Electric Picnic have now become monsters in their own right. All together now seemed to have stolen the show again this year even though it is only its second year in existence. It did however take some PR damage as it took festivals goers hours to get in and out of the festival and that will definitely lose it some ticket sales next year.
Electric Picnic continues to be Ireland’s flag ship festival now that Oxegen is no longer around. It had 55,000 people this year which is its biggest yet however we found it quite underwhelming but it has become very much a younger persons festival with all together now taking on the role of the more mature festival goers festival. All together now has even increased its age limit to over 23s which is most welcome.
Electric Picnic sported some great acts this year such as the Strokes and Florence and the machine but it didn’t really hit any of us like past years…at least in our group but maybe that is a sign of age. I did manage to lose my refurbished iPhone but luckily there was a stall down there from refurbishediphones who loaned me a phone for the rest of the weekend. Other than that it was a great summer but next year I might try some European festivals for a change as I felt it was a bit stagnant this year. Lollapallooza in Chicago also looks great so that could be an option also even though it would be an expensive trip.
